The Academy of Audio Visual Arts and Sciences (AA-VAS) is an organization dedicated to the field of media development in Nepal. In the year 1998, when AA-VAS was envisioned, the world was moving towards the 21st century overwhelming with broadcasting Communication and was narrowing down to a small village every moment. Nepal was caught in the throes of this fast development unaware and unprepared. But it could not remain aloof from the rest of the world for long. There was a felt need of a suitable institution to address the workforce situation in electronics media and to enable the country move forward keeping pace with the global progress in media sector.

Since then AA-VAS has been striving to become a center of excellence in media education and training especially in broadcast media. The founders and architects of AA-VAS have envisaged it as a national institution of higher technical education in the media sector. It is patron by media professionals and management experts of outstanding caliber, who have undertaken the challenge to operate quality institution to cater audio-visual workforce need of the country.

AA-VAS is being developed as an institution of high skill standards in Nepal. The architects of AA-VAS have envisaged it as a truly national institution of higher vocational learning. Media professionals of outstanding calibre have undertaken the challenge to create a quality institution that will cater to the country's audio-visual media needs.

The Academy gives expression the people's will to raise the national consciousness by imparting quality training to its students who can be assets to the nation.

The Academy will offer courses that are designed to stimulate the intellectual curiosity and professional interests of students of students so that they become proficient in their chosen subjects and competent in practice.Committed faculty members with impeccable records will lead this process as catalysts of the Academy to make it a centre of academic and professional excellence.

VISION

OBJECTIVES

The main objective of the academy is to produce skilled human resources in the field of media. The objectives include:

  • To impart state-of-the-art in knowledge sill and attitude in the field of audio-visual and other communication media for producing necessary workforce for their development.
  • To render academic, practical and professional services in the field of broadcasting and communication media that helps to cope with the increasing demand of the sector.
  • To extend necessary consultancy and assistance in establishing and developing new agencies in electronic media;
  • To undertake necessary measures to harness the expertise, skill and competence available within Nepal and abroad in the field of mass communication especially in broadcasting for the enhancement of the economic, social and professional development of the country.
  • To build up a network and coalition with the professional agencies in the government , non-government and international non government sectors.
MANAGEMENT

AA-VAS has been managed by a competent group of professionals who have proven reputation in their respective field. Experts in communication planning, institutional development , sound engineering, film direction and film production, educational and entertainment program production, music, drama production, tele-serial and tele-film are the key areas of expertise that the management team of AA-VASS possesses.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Since its establishment, AA-VAS has devoted much of its time and energy in and around the electronics media. AA-VAS has directed its focus towards the training of the radio and television workforce and has also involved itself in program production.
